Caffeinated Links: Catching Fire Book Cover, T.S. Eliot, Inside Llewyn Davis Music

Julian Peters’ illustrations of T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock are among the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. RT

This “book covers come to life” – animated book covers – series is not just breathtaking, but also the way of the future – one day very soon we’ll walk into bookstores and the book covers will be animated. RT

Millenials in American aren’t the only ones desperate for jobs – it’s the same in Europe, according the New York Times writing about a generation “Young and Educated in Europe, but Desperate for Jobs

100 Notable Books from 2013, RT

Ruth Engel reviews the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack – “The album itself is lovely – Oscar Isaac’s voice is so compelling that I’m sure his performance in the movie will be beyond reproach even if he doesn’t act at all. It includes a number of instantly recognizable folk standards, including one of my all-time favorites,” 500 Miles.” Marcus Mumford collaborates on an aching version of “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” that contains no frenetic banjo strumming, and Chris Thile and the Punch Brothers bring warmth and a fiddle into the mix.” RT

Hilarious Response to Amazon’s Drones

Yesterday, Amazon.com announced that it is developing pilotless flying vehicles called “octocopters” that can deliver packages within a half hour of customers placing an order. See the full WSJ article here and Amazon’s video overview.

Below, however, is a video response from UK company Waterstones.

“We’re excited to announce the Ornithological Waterstones Landing Service, a brand new way to receive your favourite books,” said Waterstones, trying hard not to snigger.

“O.W.L.S. consists of a fleet of specially trained owls that, either working individually or as an adorable team, will be able to deliver your package within thirty minutes of you placing your order.”

Heirs MV – I Will Always Want You

Heirs has me, heart and soul. It’s not that it’s a particularly well-written show, but the romance within it has that spark of sheer, achingly real magic that I look for in my favorite romances. I’m obsessed with the below music video. (Note: you can watch Heirs online on Dramafever). The song is a stellar cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” by Sam Tsui and Kylee.

Caffeinated Links: Fruit and Hemp, Middle Earth, the Perfect Nap-Time

These morning winter fruit bowls with hemp seeds and cacao nibs look so good.

Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (The Spectacular Now) and Tatiana Maslany(Orphan Black) all have tested for the coveted role of Sarah Connor in Terminator 5. I am so fine with any of these women in the role. HT

The Wall Street Journal tells us the perfect amount of time to nap based on your goal RT

On the Daniel fast – Feola told me that self-denial “makes us more aware of our dependency on the Lord, and it brings us to a place of surrender and weakness.” RT

You can now visit Middle Earth on Google Maps, a sentence that J.R.R. Tolkien quite certainly never imagined being uttered in 1937. RT

Ann Street Studio: Colorburst Photoshoot with Paule Ka

Ann Street Studio is one of my favorite photography blogs, chronicling mostly the world of high-end fashion and photography in New York City. The photoshoots embody the essence of elegance and as a bonus, often drip with color. Below are a few snapshots from a recent favorite.

Beauty Review: Juice Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream

juice stem cellular repair cc cream Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream – Warm Glow,  $39

This came a few weeks back in my Birchbox, and was one of the last products I got around to trying out, not because I had negative expectations (I had none) but simply because it is very tough for any skincare/foundation product to beat out my two beauties, Luxiva Tinted Moisturizer and Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer. It’s described on the Juice website as a “12-in-1 color correcting cream for glowing, radiant, ageless skin,” and is an organic product.

Application: Coming out of the tube as a tan-colored cream, as one might expect, the Repair Cream blends on well and easily, no neon tones like the Pixi Primer(shudder).

Pop Culture Love Letter

This almost brought tears to my eyes. Philip Graham at The Millions on reading with his son – “Maybe those days of curling up in bed with a story were long gone, but what if we read the same book together silently, side by side, in the living room? If I bought two copies of a novel, we could take on chapter-length chunks each evening and then discuss what we’d just read. Perhaps in this way I could gently lead my son to an appreciation of the deeper internal landscapes that literature offers…The pace of the plot kept us constantly engaged” RT

You go girl. Finally someone speaks the truth. Fit mom Maria Kang on the firestorm of criticism about her photo – “What I WILL say is this. What you interpret is not MY fault. It’s Yours. The first step in owning your life, your body and your destiny is to OWN the thoughts that come out of your own head. I didn’t create them. You created them. So if you want to continue ‘hating’ this image, get used to hating many other things for the rest of your life. You can either blame, complain or obtain a new level of thought by challenging the negative words that come out of your own brain.” RT

Benedict Cumberbatch, who wins ALL THE THINGS, does an amazing Chewbacca Impression. My favorite, though? Harrison Ford’s face. RT

Illuminating post on the clothes behind the fall’s best comedy. “Mindy’s personal style is a lot more edgy, and Mindy on the show is more of a urban hipster. So there are outfits that Mindy Lahiri wears on the show that Mindy Kaling wouldn’t, but I’ve definitely seen Mindy changing it up — she’ll find out where I bought something and get one for herself and add it to her wardrobe. I think that Mindy’s personal style has grown with access to the clothes she has on the show. Much like Sarah Jessica Parker, she was never the fashion plate before “Sex and the City” that she is now.” RT

According to Lifehacker, standing for 3 hours a day works miracles – the equivalent of running 10 marathons a year RT
