“The Me Bird” Pablo Neruda Video
The short film “The Me Bird” is a free interpretation of the homonym poem by Pablo Neruda. The inspiration in the strata stencil technique helps conceptualize the repetition of layers as the past of our movements and actions. The frames depicted as jail and the past as a burden serve as the background for the story of a ballerina on a journey towards freedom. A diversified artistic experimentation recreates the tempest that connects bird and dancer.

Caffeinated Pick: Maptote
Most likely I’ll be switching the design posts over to my design blog, Coffeteer, sometime soon. Here’s a recent post from there –
Debuting a new series wherein every Friday I highlight a design website I love. Today’s pick is Maptote, a Brooklyn-based company that makes products decorated with maps of both local and exotic places. These include everything from note cards to bandannas, zip pouches, and of course, custom-made totes.
Background:
When a stylist and a cartographer fall in love and get married, what do they make (besides babies)? In the case of Brooklyn couple Rachel Rheingold and Michael Berick, they create Maptote, a line of products decorated with maps of locales both domestic and exotic.
Cavallini and Co
I have mixed feelings about Paper Source, which carries lovely products which are inevitably overpriced, but I do love their brand selection. One of the brands they carry is Cavallini and Co, which features quirky, travel-themed retro designs. From top to bottom – sticky notes, planners, and notebooks.
Check out Cavallini and Co online (viewing only, no purchase), and look for their products next time you visit Paper Source.
Love List
Japanese minimalism, with earth tones and rounded corners. There’s something so restful about this room, it exudes a natural ease, stripped of effort or technology, almost as if it’s bleeding into the greenery outside the door. Would you live here?
I’m also in love with this Traditional Masai Choker from West Elm
Not to mention the gorgeous (if overpriced) Persian rugs in West Elm’s Found Shop
Est Magazine – Global Living with an Australian Twist
Est Magazine is a fairly new design/fashion magazine out of Australia (digital, as many magazines are going these days), and it is a gorgeous and upscale thing that is a treat for the eyes. It features everything from spotlights on retail brands to interior design pieces to recommended travel destinations.
Check it out here – they just released the 7th edition – and subscribe for free!
