Picked up this combination lipstick/lip color at Sephora. It was actually my first lip pencil so I wanted to choose carefully, and went with this partly because of rave reviews from beauty bloggers, and partly because NARS is a brand that I trust (the Orgasm blush? It’s been said a thousand times already, but it’s an absolute must for any beauty collection).
Official description: “The long lasting, non-drying formula is enriched with emollients for a creamy texture, while a combination of unique silicones ensures long-lasting, seamless color for hours. Use for lining, all-over lip color, or pairing with another lip product.”
It’s described as a “vivid siren red,” but in actuality it’s more of a soft, blushing red with pink undertones that pairs wonderfully with pink or red holiday attire. In store, I nearly went with the Cruella shade instead, which is a bright, popping red, but the Dragon Girl is more versatile and equally flattering.
Details:
Moisture: It still drys out your lips just a little, which is only to be expected from any matte product. It didn’t noticeably strip my lips however and is much gentler than many other lip products I’ve tried.
Staying power: Well, it doesn’t last all day, but does stick around for a good four hours or so, which is about what I’d expect.
Application: Glides on so easily and with such precision – oh the joy of high-quality makeup!!
Verdict: Keeper
Buy at NARS or Sephora for $24.
